The Retreat Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurant, Grassington

I have the Cordon Vert Diploma in Vegetarian Cookery from the Vegetarian Society. We offer an extensive menu which includes a variety of sandwiches made from your choice of breads and fillings and many hot meals. A different home made soup every day, which is always gluten free and more often than not dairy free, served with a delicious roll. We have a full meals menu.

We offer a take out service for those who want to enjoy eating good food sitting in the beautiful countryside around Grassington and beyond.

You may just want a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake, or a scone or pastry, (also gluten free and dairy free cakes) all home-made here at The Retreat.

Why "The Retreat"

We decided to call our café The Retreat after The Retreat Animal Rescue Sanctuary which is run by our dear friends Billy and Neil. The Retreat Animal Rescue gives animals a safe haven to live the remainder of their lives without the fear of the abuse that they have endured and be loved and cared for. Billy and Neil have so many animals to look after, ranging from cows, bullocks, goats, sheep, pigs, horses, ponies, chickens, turkeys, birds, cats, and dogs. Good homes are always needed for the many dogs and cats that come to the Retreat. All these animals need feeding, vet treatments and bedding - The Retreat is a registered charity now, and exists entirely on donations. Tips from our café go to the Retreat. Ron and I (Sue) are the proprietors of this vegetarian/ vegan café, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Grassington. We opened in August 2004, and are situated just off the square in the Main Street.

We are open everyday except Wednesdays - serving our delicious wares from 10:30am. The kitchen closes at 4:30pm.
